Favourite WOD: “MURPH”
What I hate to see on the board: Olympic Weightlifting.
Favourite lift: Deadlift or Back Squat.
Biggest transformation I’ve experienced as a result of being with CrossFit Auckland: Incremental but consistent improvement – I feel stronger and faster than I did 6 months ago, and I’m learning how to pace and push myself over different lengths of time.
Most memorable CrossFit moment: Last week on the “CrosFit Total”. I hit PR’s in all three movements and felt like I could have gone heavier.
Before CrossFit: I’ve done a bit of running (full and half-marathons) and I grew up horseback riding (on a farm) playing tennis and swimming.
Life outside CrossFit: I currently work for Hobson Leavy, an executive search firm. I finished my PhD in post-war security and human rights last year and I’m now studying law full time with the end goal of practicing international human rights law.
Favourite meal: Anything Japanese or Italian for a meal. Though peanut butter and cereal are easily my favourite foods.
Favourite movie: The Hours.
Favourite band or artist: Bon Iver or Ray LaMontagne (nice and chill)
If you were to recommend CFAK to your best friend, what would you say?
I would say it’sa great mix of strength and conditioning workouts that are constantly varied. There are always things that challenge you and make you a bit uncomfortable too, so it’s a great way to push yourself and improve.
