Congratulations to Tracy (aka Ultra), on her amazing finish at this weekend's 60km off-road Hutt Valley Ultramarathon! Bloody proud of you mate :)

“Hi Alex & Lisa, Wanted to flick a quick email and let you know that all went well on Saturday at my 60km off-road ultra run in the Hutt Valley. I had set a goal of finishing in 6 hours but managed to get across the finish line in 5:46 which was fantastic! Even managed to pick up the trophy for first woman home. Placed 5th overall which was also great – competing against the guys is always hard. It was very different for me to be off the tarseal but survived with a rather nice blister and sore feet.

Looking forward to the WOD on tuesday night although I may be a little slow.”

Best of three attempts:

  • Snatch
  • Clean & Jerk

There are two main types of lifting technique: the snatch and the clean and jerk. In both categories, competitors are given three attempts to complete a lift.

Once lifters reach the platform, they have one minute to attempt the lift. If they are successful, their next attempt must be at least 1kg heavier.

The heaviest successful lift in each category contributes towards the total score, so if an athlete lifts 90kg in the snatch and 130kg in the clean and jerk, their overall score is 220kg.

Straight from the “OMG” files:….. “Bored with marmalade, fed-up with chocolate spread? Then have a big breakfast all in one go by spreading your morning toast with bacon jam. The new barbecue-type preserve is made with smoked bacon, red onion, coffee, balsamic vinegar, garlic, spice – and whisky. The first batch of more than 200 jars – costing £3.75 ($7) for 200g – sold out quickly at the grocery in Walthamstow, East London, where it was launched. Store co-owner Chris O’Connor, who developed the jam, said: “We’ve always sold homemade jam and crispy bacon so we thought we’d put the two together.” His business partner, James Brundle, said: “We really think it will take off … it’s just getting people to try it.” The jam will go on sale across London next month and, if it’s a hit, will be launched UK-wide.” (Source: Newslite.tv)
