Here’s a few good words of advice from a friend and fellow CrossFit Coach, Adam Stanecki of CrossFit Victoria:
“Coaches aren’t mind-readers.
Sometimes you just have to speak up.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking your trainer knows, remembers, sees and hears everything.
We coaches are but mere mortals.
Sometimes we need your help.
The coach-athlete relationship is important to the development of not only the athlete but the coach too.
If you think the coach is missing something or you don’t understand an aspect of your training program, speak up.
In fact, any time you have a question, ask it.
You have to be as honest with your coach as s/he is with you.
Take some responsibility onto your own shoulders and get smart with your training.
Read, write, discuss, research. Learn as much as you can.
And be sure that your communication channels with your coach are crystal clear.
I guarantee better results to those athletes who speak clearly and help their coaches as they are helped themselves.”
