Tactical Training
If you are in the Military, Fire Service, EMS or Law Enforcement (or are hoping to enlist in one of these), we have a programme designed specifically with you in mind. CrossFit® has been accepted as the Strength and Conditioning system of choice for the US Navy SEALs, the USMC, countless SWAT or other Special Tactical Groups and Police Academies, Fire Departments and First Responder units. CrossFit Auckland makes this system available in New Zealand.
Our programming includes constantly varied functional movements designed to ellicit an increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. We pride ourselves on ‘Forging Elite Fitness’. As your career depends on your fitness, we can help better prepare you for it.
Put another way, CrossFit® helps prepare you for the unknown, and the unknowable.
In addition to our regular Timetabled Classes, CrossFit Auckland run a programme exclusively for this community. Our training methods are intense, but are also infinitely scalable to the individual level of the participants. We utilise a wide variety of equipment; some are rudimentary items you may have seen or used before, and some equipment may be new to you.
CrossFit Auckland Tactical sessions last up to 90 minutes. The Workouts are so varied that you never perform the same thing twice, and challenging enough that even the strongest will be tested.
Programme spaces are usually limited to 12pax per group. We may also be able to run a special programme for your unit subject to negotiation.

What our members said; CrossFit Auckland Testimonials
Since leaving the NZ Army and shifting to Auckland to become a Fire Fighter, I found that i needed to find something as mentally and physically challenging as the NZ Army and my job as a Fire fighter, CrossFit has well and truly meet all of this and more, with helping maintain my fitness level for everyday task that I may encounter. - Josh Nicholls, Fire Fighter
CrossFit pushes me beyond my physical and mental limits. The workouts are demanding. - Daniel Bruce, Rifleman NZ Army
CrossFit is my drug of choice. It is seriously addictive. After training at CrossFit Auckland for about 5 weeks, I noticed a huge change in my speed, strength, muscular endurance and body shape. Probably the biggest change I noticed was the change in my attitude. With having a 24/7 smile on my face and truckloads of energy, I can safely say CrossFit has changed my life for the better in more ways than one. I recommend CrossFit to anyone that has ever dreamed of being more than ordinary. If your dreams don’t scare the crap out of you, then they are just not high enough. - Mikey Leonard, Aircraft Technician – Royal New Zealand Air Force

POLICE TRAINING – The Difference between Combat & Sports
Extract courtesy of CrossFit Journal“The difference between combat and sports is that in combat you bury the guy who comes in second.” - Unidentified Navy SEAL on the Discovery Channel’s “U.S. Navy SEALS II,” 1999
Our work and acceptance in the law enforcement, tactical operations, and military special operations communities has been both extremely gratifying and very exciting. Increasingly the professional combatant comes to CrossFit Auckland aware of the reality that, on average, the fitness challenges they are most likely to face will not be best met by a specialized or narrow focused fitness programme. That is the sole domain of the sport athlete.
Incredibly, the fitness needs of professional combatants, police and military, have not been given the same quality analysis, commitment, or even funding that is generally given to sport. The obstacles to better training are often due to widespread misunderstanding of the physiological needs of police work.
Let’s take a look. Read More…
