I would strongly recommend I AM CROSSFIT to everyone. I was very apprehensive coming into the group that it would be way above my level, but Alex and Lisa along with the whole group were very supportive and encouraging and the program is structured for all levels to find our strengths and work on our weaknesses.
Overall I lost weight, my cloths are fitting better, my form has improved in so many exercises and I knocked nearly four minutes off the benchmark 300 test.

I enjoyed the extra time going through technique and its really improved my form, ability and understanding of each exercise group. Really enjoyed the group focus and ability to get to know other crossfitters that I don’t get to meet in the scheduled classes I attend. My fitness has improved and whilst I haven’t yet reached my ultimate weight goal, I’m well on my way after uping my schedule to 3 classes a week. I found it very motivating and more importantly enjoyable.
I would recommend this program to others and intend to enroll in the next I AM CROSSFIT as I look to improve even more! Thank you both for all your encouragement and support during the program.

I AM CROSSFIT has been brilliant!
It was really beneficial for correcting my technique – especially squats and barbell work. I also had always wanted to kip, but couldn’t figure it out – I now have a kip. I now feel confident to do lifting at home – snatches and cleans. Having the benchmark workouts was a great way to gauge progress and assists motivation throughout the program.

I feel that I have learnt a lot over the course of I AM CROSSFIT. I gained a lot of insight during the various weeks on specific movements like cleans, handstand pushups and kipping pullups. I feel physically stronger and faster and saw this in my re-test of the I AM CROSSFIT 300 workout. I have seen an improvement in my kipping pullups, more in the fact that the movement is now more efficient.
I fully enjoyed the program, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to improve a wide range of movements and their overall strength and fitness.

At the start of the course my goals included getting my Jerks and my Handstand Pushups to a good level of technique. I feel as though my Handstand Pushups have come a long way in regards to technique as well as my Jerks. I have been able to go through a full range HSPU with bands for the first time, and open my shoulders for the jerk movement – my train wreck has come along way! My final goal was to beat Wags in the 300 WOD – which I accomplished twice.

The two aspects of ‘I AM CROSSFIT’ I enjoyed most were the strong focus on learning and improving technical skills and the support and camaraderie engendered by the group sessions. I had been a regular CrossFit Auckland member for about 10 months before I tried ‘I AM CROSSFIT’ and I have no doubt that what I have learned will be carried through to improve each and every WOD I do.
As an addition to regular work-outs, the focused sessions provided a depth of learning and attention to detail that can normally only be achieved in a one-on-one lesson.

”I’ve been a member at CrossFit Auckland for over 1 year and during this time I attended 2 – 3 times per week. I enrolled in the I Am CrossFit programme to work on lifting techniques regularly used in CrossFit classes to enable me to increase my strength base as an athlete.
During the 6 week programme I received 1 on 1 coaching in the functional strength movement patterns associated with CrossFit, nutritional guidelines and pre and post body measurements. I made tremendous strength gains in all aspects of my performance I and I’ve developed more knowledge about nutrition for me as an athlete.
I recommend this programme to any person, whether they are at an intermediate level or at a reasonably high level of fitness. If you are serious about getting fitter and more proficient then this is the programme for you. Thanks guys for your support through this programme, it was challenging and scary in parts but your enthusiasm and belief got me through, you are legends!! This was my second time through I AM CROSSFIT and I’d definitely do it again. One of the things I like most is clear progress measurements in a fixed time period; from Body Composition through to the Beep Test and 300 Bench Mark Workout. The other is the skills and technique development – it makes such a difference. Also I fully expect you will grow this programme in ways that I cannot yet imagine, but will certainly want to experience.

My experience of committing to I AM CROSSFIT can only be described as a positive one. With the extra coaching and encouragement to get through those WOD’s I was able to shave over 4 minutes off my benchmark WOD and lose close to 8 kilos!! Alex and Lisa were very generous with their time in our I AM CROSSFIT training, making sure that we got the most out of each session. I have to say that I learned something in EVERY session that we completed and this has encouraged me to push myself that much harder. Overall, I feel much fitter, stronger and have more energy than before I started the programme.

Being newer to CrossFit, I was looking for a way to not only get the techniques down but to sort out my diet to achieve some realistic short term goals. The I AM CROSSFIT programme pretty much nailed those requirements on the head! The extra guidance we received in our team classes really helped and flowed through to the normal WODs enough to show a pretty noticeable improvement in my strength and time to complete a workout.
After just 6 weeks I managed to shave off 13 minutes for the I AM CROSSFIT benchmark WOD! It’s certainly a course I’d consider re-doing, not just to continue improving technique but also because it was a tonne of fun!

Nutrition: From vegetarian to paleo in 6 weeks… This was a trial for me (not as in hard but as in a test period). I wanted to see if changing my diet would make a difference in my training. Oh. My. God. There is no going back. There is no comparison. I’m convinced and converted. The handouts are also really helpful – they have become my kitchen bible over the last 6 weeks.
Overall, one of my goals was to lean out and I am sure I have the change in eating habits to thank for that! I haven’t weighed back in yet but I know I have lost fat – I see it in the mirror and in how my clothes fit.
Have the sessions helped my performance?
Definitely – I have noticed an ongoing improvement in my strength and endurance as well as ability to significantly progress in the ability to perform a number of the gymnastic moves and Olympic lifts. And having something to take away from the classes and practice is fantastic. It gives me a path by which to keep on improving and I love that! The skills focussed sessions have also helped my form and that in turn reduces the risk of potential injury.
Did I achieve my goals… admittedly my strength goals were longer term than could reasonbly be achieved by me in a 6 week period. I knew that when I chose them. You gave me a list of what I could reasonably expect to achieve in the 6 weeks. I just checked what you wrote and you were spot on with the predictions. Nice one! So I am on target towards my long term goals and very happy with that.
So damn happy in fact, that I really want to know when this programme will be run again so I can do it all again.

Having done CrossFit for approximately five months I embarked on the I AM CROSSFIT journey as I wanted to spend some time refining techniques and working on my overall fitness regime – I have not been disappointed. The way the sessions were structured enabled me to spend a lot of time with the coaches refining skills, often with a mini WOD to test what we had just been working to improve.
I really enjoyed working closely with a great group of like minded folk and found the smaller classes worked very well for me. Over the six week period not only did I manage to shave 5 minutes off my benchmark WOD and increase my performance in the beep test.
I also made a commitment to a healthier lifestyle in terms of eating appropriately to fuel my body. Without exception all of my body measurements have improved, over what I would have considered possible in a fairly short period of time. The improvements I have experienced would not have been possible without the fantastic guidance of Alex, Lisa and Julianne.

My goal was to work at my weak points in technique and enhance my endurance and strength. I AM CROSSFIT has helped me to achieve these goals!! The 6 week challenge is by far the best choice I have committed to – the results have been phenomenal for me. The expert training sessions enabled me to critique my technique, and now having a better understanding of ‘good form’, I am convinced this has made the difference in my WOD results.
The discipline that I maintained sticking to a strict Zone Diet and from the awesome workout sessions made it that much easier for me to become I AM CROSSFIT! Loved every aspect of this challenge. I recommend this 6 week challenge to everyone, you wont be disappointed!

I enjoyed the group concept and that we learnt new skills each week. Whatever level we were at, we were catered to. I was wrapped to have improved my times on the final bench mark tests. Lisa and Alex have a 110 + % attitude towards this programme and it is excellent value. Its made me more confident in my abilities.

I AM CROSSFIT was a great learning experience. I was able to improve my technique and identify my weaknesses so I know what I need to work on in the future. I was absolutely shocked how much time I managed to knock off my 300 time, 6mins!!! That’s a huge improvement in such a short amount of time. And my recoveries have improved a great deal too. I AM CROSSFIT gave me confidence to compete in Fight Gone Bad and I would like to compete in future events. Knowing that everyone else is supporting you, it doesn’t feel like you are competing against the other athletes – they are all cheering you on!
The skills that I have learnt will help me improve my WOD times and I would definitely do I AM CROSSFIT again to further perfect my movement. I AM CROSSFIT has helped my ‘crossfit confidence’. Its not always about finishing first, but knowing you have done your best and performed each rep with great technique – and I think that is one of the main things I got from this programme.
My running has improved and I am getting stronger (gradually!!). I have achieved PRs and it just makes me even more motivated to try harder. I will continue to work towards my goals and I think I AM CROSSFIT is a big part of that and a great opportunity to interact with other crossfitters. Everyone is so encouraging and motivating that its hard not to love it and feel good about what your achieving!
