Congratulations to all the competitors, and the crew at CFAK!
I had an absolute ball and can’t wait for the next “fun” event.
What an brilliant day, the weather was perfect, the events spot on and competition was fierce!
Thanks you AP and MTL and the rest of the volunteers for putting on an event that in my opinion has taken the sport of Crossfit to the next level in this country!
Bring on 2012!
(now I’m off to learn how to do double unders…)
Chuckie, I’ll teach you to double under if you teach me to Squat Snatch
DEAL!
So I’m still looking for the bit of me that is not currently hurting……..
See you at Mobility WOD tonight!
Hi, I’m a garage CrossFitter in Christchurch, looks like this was a cool event – are you planning to post results and scores?
Results posted in a few minutes Dean!
Have you tried training at an affiliate down there mate? Good coaching and a great atmosphere can make a hell of a difference.
Not yet Alex although I’m sure it would be good.
CrossFit does work really well for the committed garage grass-roots CF-er though.
This is something I’ve thought about a bit actually, there’s the trade-off with gym membership of a 1 year contract between $1380 and $2160/year depending on gym, but with that you get the advantage of trained coaches and the community aspects you mention.
On the other hand, doing CF mainsite 3-on-1-off garage CF, as a member of a sports team that also gets together for WODs regularly to supplement sport-specific training, and with help from experienced crossfitters and copious reference to the CF main site exercises, demos, CF journal, forums etc largely compensates for that. That’s my current scenario, and it has worked pretty well for me over the two years I’ve been doing CrossFit.
The way I look at it, it’s a win/win no matter which way you go.
